Lamp Jr.

Lamp Jr. is a user interface for submitting simple queries to the Globin Gene Server's database of experimental results. It is very easy to use, because you don't need to learn an arcane query language-- Lamp Jr. builds the query for you.

Notes:

• It is written in Java, so you must have a Java-enabled browser to use it.
• Queries may take a long time to run (10 min. or more for some DNA transfer experiments and binding assays). This is due to the database's query engine, not the Lamp Jr. interface. We are working on speeding it up.
• The output from DNA transfer experiment and binding assay queries is displayed in a graphical representation using PostScript, but currently the output from the other tables is shown in its raw storage format. We may add graphical formats for the other tables later.

  • If you don't have a PostScript viewer to display the results from your own queries, you can get one here. Or, if you have a PostScript printer, you can just send the file you receive from our server directly to your printer (but be aware that these files can be many pages long).
